Virgin representative says company looks forward to expanding portfolio in Caribbean
NASSAU, BAHAMAS – Virgin Atlantic has added a bi-weekly service from London Heathrow Airport in the Bahamas starting this winter, the airline said.
According to the airline, the new services aim to meet pent-up demand from Caribbean destinations.
Bi-weekly services from Heathrow to Nassau begin on November 20. The flights go on sale August 11.
Juha Jarvinen, Commercial Director, said: “We couldn’t be more excited to add the Bahamas to our ever-growing portfolio of Caribbean destinations. We are seeing real demand from our customers for a luxury vacation in the sun, with Brits keen to get away from it all for their next adventure after a tough year.
“With 16 islands surrounded by the clearest waters in the world, the Bahamas offers the perfect escape for travelers who just want to relax or explore a new corner of the world.”
Virgin currently flies to Barbados, Antigua, Jamaica and Grenada and plans to restart services to Tobago and Cuba “in the coming months”. It also plans to introduce the first direct service from Europe to Saint Vincent and the Grenadines in October.
“As we head into winter 2021, we look forward to expanding our Caribbean portfolio from six islands to eight and are incredibly excited to welcome onboard customers flying to our old and new destinations, going on vacation. or traveling to visit loved ones, Jarvinen said.
