Titans coach Mashimbyi to replace Nkwe ahead of Proteas test stage in West Indies

  • Titans head coach Mandla Mashimbyi will temporarily replace Enoch Nkwe as assistant coach of Proteas for the test phase of the West Indies series.
  • Nkwe has been granted family leave and will join the team in the Caribbean for the T20 stage.
  • Mashimbyi, a former all-rounder for the Titans, was Boucher’s assistant to the Titans before replacing him as head coach.

Titans Head Coach Mandla mashimbyi will travel to the West Indies as temporary assistant coach of Mark Boucher in Enoch Nkwe’s absence.

Nkwe is on family responsibility leave and will miss Proteas’ two tests against the West Indies, which will be held at the Daren Sammy Cricket Ground in Saint Lucia.

Mashimbyi was Boucher’s assistant to the Titans before former wicket keeper Proteas was named national head coach in 2019.

Mashimbyi, who is a former all-rounder for the Titans, has taken on the role of head coach of the Titans and is currently assisted by former Lions coach Geoffrey Toyana.

Next month’s tour will be the Proteas’ first full visit to the West Indies since 2010.

Boucher’s team will be stationed in their room for three days after their arrival, from where they will be allowed to train on the fourth day after two negative Covid-19 tests.
