The Greater Manchester Police (GMP) Force Contact Center (FCC) has taken on 64 new call handlers.
This is a significant milestone by which GMP now has more than 1,100 call handlers in the FCC – the highest number in its history.
The news comes after it was announced on Friday (October 28, 2022) that GMP had been removed by Her Majesty’s Inspection from Special Measures and is no longer required to be part of the Inspection’s engagement monitoring process.
Improvements continue to be made across the force and within the FCC, the journey has been transformative.
In terms of national performance, GMP is now in Force’s top 10 performance for 999 answer times, and 8th nationally in percentage of calls answered within 10 seconds.
Welcoming new hires is a further sign of the continued investment in call handling and means GMP can continue to meet demand and provide improved service – getting response agents faster to callers who need it the most.
Welcoming new recruits demonstrates once again that GMP is more committed than ever to strengthening its ranks and providing the highest level of service to the public. And now has never been a better time to join the FCC. There are roles available in Call Handling, Crime Recording, Customer Inquiries, and Radio Dispatch.
