Grenada’s prime minister’s frontline vaccination efforts

ST GEORGES, Grenada – Prime Minister Dr Keith Mitchell has been active in his constituency this week, encouraging workers employed under the skidding program to get vaccinated and adhere to COVID-19 protocols, reports Gov.gd.
“During a series of visits to teams in various parts of St George North West, Dr Mitchell spoke to workers about the benefits of vaccination, encouraging them to see the importance of protecting their lives and the lives of their loved ones, stressed the need to continue adhering to protocols to curb the spread of the virus. “
“The COVID-19 situation has improved significantly over the past few weeks and I cannot stress enough the importance of ensuring that the numbers continue to drop. We have suffered significant loss of life and many workers have been strained. Therefore, in addition to the actions taken by the government, we must accept our individual responsibility to help the situation improve further, ”added Dr Mitchell.
“I am able to recommend the vaccination because I did it myself. I want to see us all protected. I took the first opportunity to be fully vaccinated, my mom, who will soon be 99, is also fully vaccinated. Experts have told us and statistics prove it, vaccination helps, it reduces the risk of serious illness, hospitalization and death. This is our best option to protect ourselves against COVID-19, ”he said.
Grenada‘s government skidding program “resumed this week after being suspended for several weeks due to the COVID outbreak,” the government communications portal said.
At the same time, the Ministry of Finance, through the COVID-19 Economic Support Secretariat (CESS), announced on Wednesday October 20 that the deadline for receipt of applications for the month of September as part of the various components of the Stimulus plan.
All applications must be received by 4:00 p.m. The deadline covers the following:
- Assistance with temporary unemployment benefits;
- Income support;
- Payroll support;
- Small business subsidy.
The public is informed that the deadline for submitting monthly applications is the 20th of each month. Applicants can continue to make their monthly requests for the period October to December 2021.
The CESS further indicated that “this deadline is for the receipt of applications for the program. alone and that payments will continue to all eligible beneficiaries during the period for which the claims were made.
