A couple from Ghaziabad have been arrested for trapping honey and extorting money from hundreds of businessmen by blackmailing them with chats and sex videos.

The couple, identified as Yogesh and Sapna Gautam, allegedly extorted more than 20 crore rupees in a year from 300 people, according to a report published by The Print.

The couple extorted money from wealthy people, including businessmen and professionals, by blackmailing them with their intimate photos and sexual conversations. They are said to have had nearly 30 women assisting them in the extortion.

“Sapna and her husband had their roles divided. She (Sapna) would join the website using new credentials and chat with the victims. She also trained other women for the job. Yogesh took care of the premises (places from which calls were made to victims), phone numbers and bank accounts, ”a senior police officer from Ghaziabad said in the report.

“On the site (Stripchat), you have to pay Rs 234 per minute. Half of the money is taken by the website and the rest went to the couple, for rendering their services, such as sex chat, ”the officer said.

According to the police official, the couple have convinced the users to part with their personal data like their phone numbers. Subsequently, video calls were made to them via WhatsApp and they were made “to undress, masturbate and engage in other sexual activities. The accused then blackmailed them with the recorded videos to extort money.

The couple’s suspicious activities came under the scanner of Ghaziabad police after police in Rajkot contacted them earlier this month. Rajkot police had received a complaint from the owner of an accounting firm, claiming that one of his employees had made a Rs 80 lakh transaction from the company account to a bank account in Ghaziabad.

Police arrested Yogesh and Sapna, along with three other people, on Friday at their apartment in the Raj Nagar Extension in Ghaziabad.
