Hundreds of students pursuing degrees at one of the vocational institutes in The Bahamas benefit from the use of an electronic assessment platform from digital learning and assessment specialist, eCom Scotland.

After being introduced into eCom’s eNetAssess system in 2008 through a partner professional institute, the Bahamas Institute of Financial Services (BIFS) – a non-profit institution established in 1974 – requested the help from eCom in 2019, when it wanted to offer exams directly to its students.

Following discussions with Linda Steedman of eCom and her team, BIFS recommended using the services of eCom to its ten partners: Alliance Manchester Business School at the University of Manchester; Bangor University; Training in central law; The College of the Bahamas; Association of Bahamian Compliance Officers; the Bahamian Financial Services Council; the Institute of Chartered Accounts of the Bahamas; the Association of International Banks and Trust Companies; Keith Checkley & Associates and the Chartered Banker Institute.

With their agreement, eCom made its eNetAssess platform available to BIFS students. ECom’s eNetSecure system, eCom’s safe browsing application, is included.

“For BIFS, eCom provides a managed service – adding assessments and configuring exam schedules – with eNetAssess / eNetSecure providing multiple choice question assessments,” Emma said. “From registration to commissioning of the system, it took about three weeks and to date every exam has been successfully completed without a problem. “
