Delhi: MCD site gives contact details for staff in safai, malis | Delhi News

NEW DELHI: In a citizen-centric move, Lieutenant Governor VK Saxena on Wednesday launched a new feature, Swachhta Sainiks, on the revamped website of Delhi Municipal Corporation (MCD).
With this feature, residents can now find the names and phone numbers of sanitation workers and gardeners assigned to specific streets and parks to meet their sanitation, hygiene and cleanliness needs. .
More than 57,000 sanitation workers have worked in MCD’s 12 zones, and their deployment and the names of their sanitation inspector are now available on mcdonline.nic.in. The contact details of nearly 5,000 gardeners and 400 supervisors are also available on the website.
The feature has been in testing for a while, but contains all the information. “With this one-of-a-kind initiative in Delhi, the unhappy citizens who have hitherto been running from one pillar to another for their basic sanitation and hygiene needs and reaching out to senior officials and to public representatives with their grievances will be in dire need of relief,” LG’s office said.
When opening the home page, a citizen can click on “select a service area”, then go to the area-neighborhood-colony. Upon entering the desired area, the system opens a menu with the lists of “Safai Sainiks” and “Malis”.
When reviewing IT initiatives undertaken by MCD earlier, Saxena asked officials to make all services and regulatory functions IT-enabled by July 31 and specifically asked to make remediation services and gardening online.
