Center asks states to increase Covid testing and contact tracing | Nashik News

Nashik: Union Minister of State for Health and Family Welfare Dr Bharati Pawar said on Wednesday that states like Maharashtra, Kerala and Delhi where Covid cases are rising have been urged to step up monitoring and testing of suspects.
Pawar was in Nashik town to review the Covid situation and other health related work in the district.
Speaking to reporters after a meeting, she said that while some states are seeing an increase in cases, the situation is still not cause for concern. In fact, some states are seeing a drop in positive Covid cases.
Pawar said a meeting was recently held with officials from all states and they were asked to increase testing and contact tracing.
The minister also called on beneficiaries to get vaccinated without delay.
She said she was satisfied with the level of immunization in the Nashik district, but Malegaon Municipal Corporation (CMM) is still behind in first and second dose coverage.
The minister said 89% of beneficiaries received the first Covid vaccine, while 77.9% of beneficiaries received their second vaccine in Nashik district.
Meanwhile, in Malegaon, the first dose was administered to 60% of beneficiaries while the second dose was administered to only 25% of people.
