Popular real-time streaming adult content provider Stripchat is seeing an increase in cryptocurrency payments. Through a blog post, the entertainment and social streaming platform pointed out that crypto is emerging as the most preferred form of payment for multiple users and even artists on the webcam-centric website.

A rough estimate says that the platform offers more than 300,000 models and registers around 60 million monthly visitors (on average) according to statistics from Stripchat last year.

The use of cryptos for adult entertainment is not a new phenomenon as it automatically creates an additional layer of anonymity.

However, Stripchat and many other webcams Platforms saw tremendous growth last year due to the Covid-19 pandemic and the resulting travel bans. Stripchat saw a 72% increase in traffic and hosted over 2 billion sessions last year.

Max Bennet, vice president of new media at Stripchat, said;

“Users and models are more actively using crypto as their preferred payment method. We’ve seen a 400% increase in the number of cryptocurrency transactions since the start of 2020, and 10% of all models active on Stripchat use crypto as their primary payment method.

After Elon Musk’s tweets highlighting “Dogecoin is the people’s Crypto,” the platform quickly adopted the same crypto by accepting it as a payment method. Bennet added:

“If adding DOGE can improve the experience of Elon Musk and the people on Stripchat, we’re here to support it.

Besides Stripchat, there are many camera-centric real-time streaming websites that accept Bitcoin and other altcoins as payments. This includes CamSoda, LiveJasmin, and Chaturbate, among others.

Pornhub also participated in the Dogecoin craze by starting to accept it as a payment method along with three other new cryptos; USDC, BNB and XRP. The adult website also continued to expand the list of cryptocurrencies it accepts as a form of payment and currently supports sixteen cryptos following the suspension of services by the credit card companies Visa and MasterCard.
